Who are we?

Books Beyond Bars is a non-profit that sends free reading materials to indigent incarcerated New Yorkers.  We are a project of the Center for Appellate Litigation, which represents some of New York's most disenfranchised and vulnerable low-income individuals.  

Since our founding in 2016, we have sent more than 10,000 books to incarcerated people.  We serve more than 50 prisons and jails in New York State.
