Hello!
Books Beyond Bars is thrilled to launch our free newsletter where we offer subscribers a deeper look into our efforts to ensure that individuals incarcerated in New York’s prisons and jails have access to their choice of free reading materials. As you may already know, Books Beyond Bars works like this: incarcerated individuals send us a letter telling us what books they want to read, and we track down those books and send them. The books are theirs to keep forever, share, donate, or whatever they’d like! Since our founding in 2016, we have sent nearly 10,000 books to people incarcerated in more than 50 prisons and jails across New York State. And as you’ll see in future newsletters, the simple gesture of sending someone a book through the mail can make a surprisingly profound and positive impact on their lives. We are a project of the Center for Appellate Litigation, which represents some of New York’s most disenfranchised and vulnerable low-income individuals in post-conviction legal matters.
By subscribing to the Books Beyond Bars newsletter you will receive exclusive Books Beyond Bars updates directly to your inbox! Are you interested in discovering which genres, authors, and titles are the most popular with our clients? Do you want a behind-the-scenes peek into our day-to-day work in the office? Does our mission to get books to incarcerated individuals resonate with you, but you aren’t sure how you can best support our initiative? You have come to the right place! From updates to our wishlist to client success stories, we will be sharing it all right here.
Subscribe to discover which genres are the most requested and which Amazon and Out-of-Price-Range book requests have not been fulfilled. You will never miss an opportunity to help clients receive the reading materials they want. We will keep subscribers informed about client feedback and appreciation, so you can realize the full impact of your book and monetary donations. Thank you for being a part of the Books Beyond Bars community and joining us in our effort to humanize and support indigent incarcerated New Yorkers through a shared love of reading!
